There are many DIY Wills kits available but the fact is you need a Will that you and your dependents can rely on which will stand up against a potential challenge. It is important that your Will is drawn to comply with all the validity requirements of legislation, and it is important to word it carefully to ensure your property will be divided according to your wishes.

Some assets do not necessarily form part of your estate so you will need to think about how those assets will be controlled and distributed if you die as well as which assets can be included in the WILL. There are many pitfalls associated with making a DIY Kit Will. One of them which I dealt with just recently was a client used a DIY Kit Will in 2016 and died in 2019. The WILL outlined payment of $5000 each to the deceased's children but it didn’t include the source of those payments. The error led to a dispute between the children and additional stress, time and huge legal cost to resolve it.

Do you want something like that to happen to you .................. I guess not.

At Lawwiise Lawyers, we help you prepare your Will so that you can avoid the common pitfalls associated with making a DIY Kit Will or dying without a Will.
